The headlines tell us the basics: social media usage is experiencing a surge ... some channels are growing while others are losing ground ... certain demographics are becoming more active. But what do the numbers look like in the big picture? Adweek recently shared an interesting infographic that shows current data and predictions for 2016. A few highlights? In 2015, there are 179.7 million social users in the U.S. -- this is more than half of our country's total population. The smallest share of social users is within the 65+ group, but this demographic is expected to grow the most by 2016. And while the talks of a Facebook slowdown persist, today's approximate number of users (156.5 million!) suggests the social giant is in pretty good shape for now.
